Ughh....

Today I got some pretty bad news - I failed the 1 hour glucose test, and now have to go take the 3 hour one. That means I get to drink a stronger version of the Glucola and then have blood taken 4 times over a 3 hour period. I am not looking forward to that at all, as anyone who knows me knows that i HATE having blood work done. I am not very happy about it at all, but don't have much of a choice. If I do have gestational diabetes, it is better that we find out for both my health and Madelyn's health as it can be pretty serious and cause complications.

At least my thyroid level came back ok again and I am not anemic!

Glucose Tolerance Test

Today we had our 28 week appointment & everything continues to look great. Madelyn's heartbeat was 150 bpm. I also had the Glucose Tolerance test which wasn't as bad as I had feared. I drank the lemon-lime Glucola, which tasted like super sweet flat Sprite & then had the blood work an hour later. The Glucola did give me a headache and made me feel slightly nauseated, but not too bad. I hope I pass though as I really don't want to have to have to do the 3 hour test.

So far I have gained 28 lbs, and the doctor said my stomach should start to get really big around 32 wks. We now have appointments every two weeks & she scheduled us for another sonogram on 12/08/09 (in 6 wks) to check the baby's growth.

In other news, the nursery is definitely coming together, and I will post pics of it soon.

The Home Stretch

Today we are 27 weeks, which makes us officially in the third trimester! Only 13 weeks to go! I am still feeling good, but am starting to have a hard time getting up and bending over to pick things up. Oh, and my belly button has officially disappeared :-(. Madelyn has definitely been very active lately which is good though. She likes to kick Dan in the head if he puts his head on my stomach, it is pretty funny.

This weekend we are painting the old dressers I had to match the crib. So far, Dan has painted one and it looks awesome! I am really surprised as I expected it to look horrible and we would end up having to buy new dressers. We are also going to finish cleaning out the nursery so that we can start painting the walls and putting up the border. I think we are going to put crown molding at the ceiling and the wallpaper border right above the top of the crib.

Also, Monday is Dan's mom's birthday, so today we are going to their house to celebrate. I decided to skip the JBF sale & just go the next one in the spring. I woke up this morning and just did not feel like walking around all day and standing in lines! Plus, I want to get everything set up in the nursery & sort through everything we already have to determine what we still need before I go buying a lot more stuff.

Today I had a drs appointment & everything continues to look good. Madelyn's heartbeat was 141 bpm and she has been kicking up a storm. My "fundal height" as they call it is right on track at 25 cm....matches the 25 lbs I have gained so far! My next appointment is in 3 weeks and will be the glucose tolerance test which I am not looking forward to, and then we start going every 2 wks. The third trimester will start in 2 weeks!! The pregnancy seems to be flying by and the rest of the year is going to continue to go quickly.
